Enjoy a long weekend self-guided motorcycle tour of Transylvania riding some of the best roads in the world, including the Transfagarasan, Transalpina and Transursoaia Highways. Three action-packed days, full of riding will help you get the most of your time off.
09:00 pick up from your hotel in Cluj Napoca and transfer to Turda, where you will collect your motorbike and start your long weekend adventure. Leaving Turda, warm up with a ride along the Transursoaia Road, which snakes up to the Dark Hill and Belisului Valley to the village of Horea in Sunset Mountains. Continue on then in the afternoon to the medieval fortress city of Alba Iulia, where you will be staying the evening in a 3* hotel.
Note: Given the early start in Cluj Napoca on day 1, many of our riders prefer to arrive the evening before.
Now that you’ve warmed up a little on the bike it’s time to continue your journey, riding up the mountains. This day is all about riding the Transalpina Road, one of the most spectacular roads of the Carpathian Mountains and the highest mountain road in Romania (2,145m above sea level). After the day’s riding you will spend your evening in Horezu in a 3* country inn.
Your final day is action-packed, leaving Horezu and heading straight into the Your next ride is on Transfagarasan Highway, one of Europe’s most crooked, challenging and spectacular roads for motorcyclists. Built between 1970 and 1974 as a military route, by communist dictator Ceausescu (after the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968) it snakes up into the Carpathians offering one of the greatest rides around. After conquering the Transfagarasan Highway, you will make your way back north to Turda to return your bike and then transfer to Cluj Napoca for your flight back home.
Note: Arrival back into Cluj Napoca is quite late, so we recommend booking a night’s accommodation there and flying out the next morning.
