Self-guided motorcycle tours offer freedom, flexibility and independence for individuals or groups of friends that want a riding holiday organised for them, without a group or leader.
Our self-guided motorcycle tours are designed around tried and tested itineraries, to showcase the best routes and destinations in the area, ensuring you get the most out of the time you have.
For your convenience our self-guided motorcycle tours are packaged up to include bike rental (although all trips can be done on your own bike, if preferred), accommodation, maps and GPS routes for the route that you are going to take.
Because it’s all about you though, these trips are completely customisable and you can choose the bike you want to ride (or bring your own), the level of accommodation you would like and the duration that you want to go for.
Self-guided motorcycle tours do not suit everyone, whether you are an experienced rider or not. You will need to be ready to take on the responsibility of acting as your own guide, making decisions on routes and timings and responding independently when things don’t go to plan.
This is not meant to be difficult, but it does require more thought and planning than a guided motorcycle tour and some people would rather spend their time and mental energy on simply enjoying the ride and taking in their surroundings. You will also generally need a certain level of mechanical know how to deal with minor issues like fixing a flat tyre out on the road.
When choosing a self-guided motorcycle tour there are number of factors you should keep in mind to make sure you have a great experience.
Compare the different inclusions in the price of the self-guided motorcycle tour you are considering. Extras such as riding gear, luggage, accommodation and tools/spares need to be taken into consideration.
Our self-guided tours tend to include bike rental, accommodation, GPS tracks, detailed route notes (including tips on where to eat and visit). GPS hire is an optional extra as we find that a lot of our riders prefer to bring their own.
The bike you choose will really depend on your riding preference and budget. Rather than just offering BMWs , Yellow Yeti Travel offers a range of bikes in each destination (where possible), to make sure that you can enjoy the ride the way you want to.
Yellow Yeti Travel only works with trusted local partners that handle the bike rentals for our trips. Bikes are well-maintained and reliable.
If you’d prefer to ride your own bike, then that’s fine too and we can get back to you with prices, if they are not already published on the tour page.
This is where self-guided motorcycle tours really differ from doing it all yourself. While you will not have someone with you on the road, Yellow Yeti Travel and our local rental partners are there to help you should things not go to plan.
Going it alone on your own bike or just with bike rental can be great, but on top of the support mentioned above, booking a self-guided motorcycle tour also saves you time and makes sure you get the most out of your ride.
We do all the leg work researching and testing the best motorcycling routes and hotels (and booking them all) for you, so you can just focus on the ride.
Finding great routes and hotels is one thing, but our self-guided motorcycle tours also offer suggestions on the best restaurants, attractions and experiences in the region you are travelling through, so you can get the most out of your time there and don’t just ride through it (although that’s normally most of the fun!).
Our self-guided tours are designed with accommodation and inclusions that we find suits most riders, but they can be tailored in every way to meet your needs and budgets. We make our money off the commissions we get from the motorcycle rental and accommodation providers, so the overall price should be very similar to what you could do it on your own.
Can’t find what you are looking for. We’re continually adding to our range of self-guided tours, but if you have something particular in mind please get in touch and we can out something together for you.
